One in three of every child born this year can be expected to develop dementia during their lifetime, according to the new analysis carried out by the Office of Health Economics.  After the age 65 the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease doubles every 5 years.  With life expectancies increasing, the number of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia will continue to grow.

This horrible disease is the cause of so much heartache and grief.  We owe it to those who have suffered with this terrible disease, those who are currently dealing with it and to our children to be proactive in supporting research for finding a cure or delaying the progression of dementia.

Every year the Alzheimer’s Association hosts the “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” in over 600 communities nationwide.  These walks help raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, research and support.  We at Morningstar Care Homes plan to participate in the Montgomery County chapter walk in Independence, KS on September 22, 2018.  I challenge you to put your best foot forward and join a walk this year to help end Alzheimer’s.
