According to a study, “Aging in Place in America,” commissioned by Clarity and The EAR Foundation, senior citizens today fear moving into a nursing home and losing their independence more than they fear death.

Here is what one 64-year old wrote:

“But my worst fear in life right now is having an accident or some disabling disease and being forced to go into a nursing home. From losing control of the foods I eat, to losing control of the decor of my environment…all of it is worse to me than getting violently raped. Because at least with the rape, it eventually ends. To be stuck in a nursing home, with some officious nurse or attendant, telling me how I should feel, what I should do, when to do it and not even knowing who I really am? That’s comparable to Stalinist Russia, to me.”  JL

Morningstar Care Homes are Real Homes providing Real Care.  Following the Green House model developed by Dr. Bill Thomas, Morningstar homes feel like a home because they are in single-family neighborhoods and are built to house fewer residents than most facilities.

And this is key—each caregiver is only asked to care for 6 residents, compared to 15-20 residents in institutional settings.  This gives us time to provide your loved one the very best in care, like you would in a family home. Our staff is on the resident’s time, the resident’s agenda, seeking to make their quality of life the best.

How do we compare to traditional nursing facilities?  We provide better care at similar rates and accept government assistance, long-term care insurance, and VA Benefits.
